\n The Professional Social Workers\u2019 Association (PSWA), established in 1985, is one of India\u2019s foremost\n organisations\n representing qualified social workers. With a steadfast commitment to advancing the profession, PSWA has played\n a\n pivotal role in shaping social work practice, policy, and education in the country.\n <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

\n History of Advocacy\n

\n Over the years, PSWA has been at the forefront of advocacy, professional development, and ethical practice,\n striving\n to uphold the dignity and rights of individuals, families, and communities through the steadfast intervention of\n its\n members. Recognising the importance of a structured and accountable social work profession, PSWA actively\n contributed\n to the development of the National Policy on the Voluntary Sector (2007), ensuring that social workers\u2019\n perspectives\n and expertise were included in broader policy frameworks.\n <\/p>\n

\n Long before the present advocacy efforts, PSWA initiated advocacy efforts for the formation of a Social Work\n Council\n in India, well before 2010. Through public advocacy programmes, signature campaigns, and awareness initiatives,\n PSWA\n sought to build consensus and support for professional regulation, ethical standards, and accreditation systems\n that\n would enhance the credibility and impact of social work practice nationwide.\n <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

\n Global Affiliations\n

\n Further strengthening its role, PSWA is affiliated with the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW)\n through\n the India Network of Professional Social Workers\u2019 Associations (INPSWA). PSWA is one of the founding members of\n INPSWA. This association allows PSWA to collaborate globally, learn from international best practices, and bring\n back knowledge and resources that benefit social workers across India.\n <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
